Dear Hmadness readers,

The new special issue of Medical History is now available. Entitled “Global South Histories of Madness”, it brings together six articles exploring mental disorders and psychiatry in the Global South, with case studies from Latin America and Africa in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

This collection contributes to the recent historiographical renewal that seeks to decentre perspectives and rethink the history of madness beyond European frameworks.
