The 40th Annual Conference of the International Psychohistorical Association about The Intersection of Psychology and History: Psychohistory In The Age Of Trump, might be of interest to H-Madness readers might be of interest to H-Madness readers. The primary theme will be The Intersection of Psychology and History with an emphasis on The Age of Trump. There will be 15 presentations concerning the President or related topics. These include Trump and Foreign Policy by historian Peter Kuznick, co-author of The Untold History of the United States, written with director Oliver Stone, and Gaslighting from the Personal to the Political, by Yale’s Robin Stern and psychoanalyst Judith Logue. Dr. Stern is author of The Gaslighting Effect. Narcissism in the Age of Trump will be presented by Elizabeth Lunbeck, author of The Americanization of Narcissism.
Keynote speaker Dr. Janice Gump will address: We Can’t Know the Present, Absent History of the Past: The Transmission of Slavery’s Traumas. Other presentations addressing race relations in the U.S. include The Name of the Game is Shame Part II: From Slavery to Obama, and Now Trump by Gilda Graff and Keisha Thompson on Stony the Road We Trod….Clinicians and Clients of Color Addressing and Coping With Racial Microaggressions and Racial Battle Fatigue.
Topics related to psychology include Rachel Yehuda of Mount Sinai Medical Center speaking on trauma, a panel on psychoanalyst Arnold Richards second volume of selected papers, the legacy of Christopher Lasch’s The Culture of Narcissism, Howard F Stein on Organizational Poetry as a Portal to Understanding Organizations, Society, and History, Susan Kavaler-Adler on the impact of Winnicott’s mother. Dr. Kavaler-Adler is the founder and Director of the Object Relations Institute. There will be a number of psychology related papers by members of that group.
