Talk: From the history of LGBTQ psychology to the psychology of LGBTQ history, Coventry, 12 February

To mark LGBT history month and the 20th anniversary year of the BPS Psychology of Sexualities Section (founded as the Lesbian and Gay Psychology Section), this talk will outline the recent history of LGBTQ psychology in the UK.

12 February 2018 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Coventry

The talk, presented by Dr Adam Jowett, will also consider the potential of focusing on LGBTQ history as a topic of social psychological research, asking questions such as:

  • How do we construct narratives of LGBTQ history?
  • What do such narratives tell us about our society today and how are they mobilised to serve certain political ends?

Dr Adam Jowett is a Senior Lecturer in social psychology at Coventry University and is current Chair of the BPS Psychology of Sexualities Section.

This event is free and open to everyone.
